Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Government officials told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.
